What is nano?
nano is a free download that, when activated by the user, extracts complete ideas from any piece of text and instantly finds closely related content, products, services, communities, events and reference information on the Internet. nano works in most web browsers, word processing documents and e-mails.

How is nano different from a search engine?
nano understands what you need dynamically and brings information to you,
eliminating the need for you to search for information. nano delivers highly relevant information to you based on the concepts, not keywords, underlying the text you are viewing on your screen.
nano also delivers relevant content, products and services in Word documents and e-mail programs. If you are writing a report, for example, and want to find current articles on the topic, simply alt-click anywhere in the document and find relevant content instantly.

What are the minimum system requirements for using nano?
To use nano you need to have the following:
- Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000 with Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher.
- 16-bit color depth (65,536 colors) or higher.
- nano is a 480 KB download and requires less than 1.5 MB of disk space.

How are sites selected for inclusion in nano's universe?
nano features the Web's best content, commerce, service and community sites.
In determining which sites are truly the best on the Web, nano evaluates
each site based on a formula of industry recognition, third party or expert
ratings and user confidence.

Can I suggest a site for inclusion in nano's universe?
Absolutely. Please go to our feedback section and suggest any URLs you would like to see in nano. Alternatively, when you are using nano, just click on the button in the lower left corner that looks like an envelope. This will automatically take you to the feedback section.

Does nano know what I'm reading? Does it record the information that I am looking at?
Absolutely not. Text coming from the user (Web pages, Word documents, etc.) is
simply analyzed for concepts and then discarded. Additionally, nano is 100% user activated. nano only searches for information for you when you ask it to. See the nano privacy statement for more details about how nano protects your privacy online.

Yes. On the nano site, you will find a straightforward privacy statement and also a lengthy and detailed privacy policy, which has been approved by TRUSTe.

This is the first time nano has been made available to the public. We are constantly enhancing the functionality of the product and are adding more data and features by the day. How do I install nano?
Simply go to our download page, register, and nano will automatically download.

I installed nano, but nothing happens. What do I need to do?
When the installation process is complete, nano is automatically loaded. You should see a white "n" inside a blue circle in the system tray located at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. nano may now be used in any application to find information relevant to your immediate needs.

FAQ's: Using nano
How do I activate nano?
On the Web, simply RIGHT CLICK your mouse and select nano from the pop-up
menu. nano will automatically appear as a window alongside your browser.
In an e-mail program or word processing document, simply hold down the ALT
button and LEFT CLICK your mouse (this key combination can be set in the
preferences menu on the nano application).

Do I need to click on a specific word for nano to work?
Not at all. nano lets you click anywhere on a page and will deliver content, products and services related to the entire document or e-mail you are reading.
nano also gives you the ability to refine or narrow your search by highlighting a specific word, phrase or paragraph. To highlight, hold down the left mouse button and drag your cursor over the appropriate text. Then, RIGHT CLICK your mouse and activate nano.
For example, if you are reading an article on the New York Yankees winning the
World Series, a simple RIGHT CLICK of your mouse will deliver content, products and services that relate to the entire document you are reading. If you want information on Yankees' Coach Joe Torre instead, you can simply highlight his name to pinpoint your request.

Why does nano sometimes deliver less relevant content?
nano works best on a page with a single article or product description. When using nano, make sure you've clicked through the links leading to the entire article or product description.
You can also try highlighting a specific word, phrase or paragraph for which you'd like more information. To highlight, hold down the left mouse button and drag your cursor over the appropriate text. Then, right click your mouse and activate nano.
nano is currently in beta and is adding data by the day. If there are specific sites or topics you would like to see included in nano, please let us know.

Can I resize the nano window?
Not yet. Right now, the window that you see when nano is active is static in size. You can drag the window to any location on your screen. In future versions of nano, you will be able to resize the window.
